Founding CEO will step down in September 2013
Glastonbury, Conn.: The Board of Directors of Bankers’ Bank Northeast is pleased to announce the selection of Craig C. Howie to the position of President, effective July 15, 2013.
Mr. Howie will later assume the position of CEO upon the retirement of current President, CEO and founder, Peter J. Sposito on September 30, 2013.
Pete Sposito commented: “Craig’s passion for the goal of assisting community banks and credit unions to grow and prosper became apparent to us early in our first meeting with him. He comes to BBN highly recommended by the bank and credit union people that he served while at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh.” Sposito went on to say that Mr. Howie has gained the trust of his management, peers and direct reports, all of whom who point to his success in delivering wholesale services to his clients.
Rheo Brouillard, BBN’s Chairman, describes Mr. Howie “as a strong leader with a reputation for getting to know his clients and who, working with BBN’s professional correspondent bankers, will deliver a high level of service to BBN’s clients. Craig subscribes to the theory that service equals sales.”
For the past 22 years at FHLBank of Pittsburgh, Mr. Howie has been a champion for community-based depository institutions in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and West Virginia. In his most recent role as Group Director, Member Services, he was a member of the Bank’s Executive Committee with responsibility for membership, client management, lending, product development, marketing, product and service delivery, community investment, mortgage acquisition and regulatory outreach. During his career, Mr. Howie also served as Chief Credit Officer, responsible for secured and unsecured credit risk management and collateral services, and manager of the member money desk. Prior to joining FHLBank of Pittsburgh, he worked in the mortgage banking industry for Chemical Bank and GMAC Mortgage in secondary marketing and product development.
