BANKERS’ BANK NORTHEAST (BBN) WELCOMES NEW BOARD MEMBERS
New England-based correspondent bank selects Stephen Lewis, President & CEO of Thomaston Savings Bank, and Steven Lowell, CEO of Monson Savings Bank, to serve on Board of Directors.
(GLASTONBURY, CT) April 18, 2014 — Bankers' Bank Northeast (BBN) a correspondent bank with corporate headquarters in Glastonbury, CT, introduced two new Board Members during BBN's Annual Meeting, held Thursday, April 17 at the Hilton Garden Inn, Glastonbury CT. Unanimously elected to the BBN Board were Stephen Lewis, President & CEO of Thomaston Savings Bank in Thomaston CT, and Steven Lowell, CEO of Monson Savings Bank, in Monson, MA.
"We could not be more honored to welcome these highly experienced community bankers to our Board of Directors," commented Craig Howie, President and CEO of BBN. "We are a dedicated partner to community-based financial institutions, and as a result, our leadership Board is comprised of clients we serve."
Having served 15 years as a Safety and Soundness Examiner for the FDIC, Stephen Lewis understands the regulatory culture and challenges facing the financial industry. Following four years as a CFO, Steve became the President & CEO of Thomaston Savings Bank, operating ten full-service branches throughout western Connecticut.
“Before I became a member of BBN’s Board, I was a BBN client,” shares Steve. “BBN has defined industry standards for customer service, earning a solid reputation in the marketplace. As a new member of the Board, my goal is to ensure continuity of both service and reputation.”
In addition to being of service to other financial institutions, Steve looks forward to serving among a group of dedicated peers. “I anticipate that Thomaston Savings Bank will benefit from my time on the BBN Board as a result of new relationships and ideas that ensure the future of community financial institutions. We all know what needs to be done and BBN can make it happen.”
With nearly 20 years in community-banking, Steven Lowell lives a mission of helping people save, businesses prosper and communities benefit.
Joining the BBN Board is an extension of this mission — “I think highly of BBN as an institution — both as an industry partner and a client. As a result of my time as a direct customer, I have extensive insight into how BBN runs their business,” comments Steven. “I continue to be extremely impressed by their commitment to customer service, knowledge of the banking industry, and ability to recognize and meet client needs.”
During his tenure on the Board, Steven’s main goal is to grow the overall BBN client base as a benefit to all current and future clients. “Growth is never easy. However, I believe that a larger and stronger BBN will have a measurable impact on all community financial institutions.”
Steven Lowell and Stephen Lewis join seven other financial industry peers that comprise a total of nine members of BBN’s Board of Directors. For a complete listing of Board members visit bankersbanknortheast.com
